Welcome to eLango (referred to as "the App", "we", "us", or "eLango"). eLango is dedicated to helping users learn Chinese naturally and effectively. We deeply value your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you sign in via Google or Apple ID, with specific details regarding subscriptions and payment processing.

• We do NOT collect or store your payment card details (payments are securely processed by Apple IAP on iOS and Stripe on Android).
• Your email and subscription status are used only for account identification, progress sync, and providing subscription services.
• We never sell your personal information or share it with third parties unless necessary.
1. Information We Collect
To provide you with eLango's services and ensure a great learning experience, we may collect the following information:
RequiredAccount Information (Google / Apple Sign-In): When you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your public ID, name (optional), and primary email address. This is used to create a unique user identity, retain your learning records, subscription benefits, and sync progress across devices.
RequiredSubscription & Transaction Status: We record your subscription plan, expiration date, and order references to manage membership benefits. We do not collect or store any credit card numbers, CVV codes, or payment account credentials. All payment operations are securely completed by Apple IAP (on iOS) or Stripe (on Android).
ExperienceLearning Activity Data: Includes words you learn, dialogues completed, quiz results, and study duration. This data is only used to show your progress and improve eLango's content recommendations.
TechnicalDevice & Usage Information: Such as device model, OS version, App version, language settings, and crash logs. This helps us diagnose issues and optimize performance without identifying you personally.
2. Payment Processing – No Payment Info Stored
eLango handles subscription payments through different processors depending on your platform:
🍏 For iOS Users (Apple In-App Purchase)
All subscription purchases, renewals, and refunds are processed by Apple's In-App Purchase (IAP) system.
Apple processes payments directly on their secure servers. We only receive transaction results (e.g., "payment successful" or "subscription active").
eLango never accesses, collects, or stores your credit/debit card numbers, bank account details, or Apple ID credentials.
What we store: subscription type, validity period, transaction ID, and last transaction timestamp – solely to verify your membership.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time via your Apple ID Settings in the system.
To enable secure, password-free login, eLango only supports third-party authentication (Google Account / Apple ID). Using OAuth 2.0, we request only essential permissions:
Google Sign-In: We receive your email address, name (if public), and language preference. We do NOT access your Google Drive, Calendar, or Contacts.
Apple ID Sign-In: If you choose "Hide My Email", Apple generates a private relay email address. All communications will be forwarded to your real email. eLango stores only this relay address (or the shared email you selected) to send subscription receipts, account security notices, and important product updates.
Login information is used only for identification, preventing duplicate accounts, and linking your learning data. You may unlink your third-party account at any time via "Settings" → "Account Management" within eLango (learning data will be retained for a period for recovery).
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
✅ Create and maintain your eLango account, providing personalized learning recommendations;
✅ Process subscription payments, verify subscription status, and send renewal/expiration reminders;
✅ Sync learning records (e.g., completed short passages, conjunction quiz scores) across multiple devices;
✅ Improve App features, fix bugs, and optimize user experience;
✅ Contact you via email when necessary (e.g., service changes, security updates);
✅ Prevent fraud and unauthorized use.
We will not use your personal information for other purposes not described in this policy without your additional consent.
5. Information Sharing & Disclosure
We only share data in the following limited circumstances:
Service Providers: We work with Apple (IAP for iOS), Stripe (payment processing for Android), and cloud storage providers (e.g., Tencent Cloud) to host encrypted learning records. These partners process data only on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality.
Legal Compliance: If required by law (e.g., court order, government investigation) or to protect the rights, property, or safety of eLango, our users, or the public.
Business Transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your account information may be transferred. We will notify you in advance and ensure the new entity adheres to this Privacy Policy.
Except as described above, we will not sell, trade, or share your personal data with any third party without your explicit consent.
6. Data Storage & Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information:

🔐 Encryption at Rest: Emails and subscription records stored in databases are encrypted at rest with strict key management.
🔐 Access Control: Only a limited number of authorized personnel can access user data, based on the principle of least privilege.
While no system is 100% secure, we regularly conduct security audits. In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by law.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on applicable privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), you have the following rights:
Access & Correction: View your linked email and subscription status in the "Profile" section of eLango, and update certain personal details.
Delete Account: To delete your account and associated learning data, go to "Settings" → "Account Security" → "Delete Account". All learning records will be permanently deleted within 30 days and cannot be recovered. Transaction records may be anonymized for tax purposes.
Opt-out of Marketing: We only send essential service notices. If we introduce marketing emails in the future, each will include an "unsubscribe" link.
Data Portability: You may contact us to export your personal data (including learning progress summary) in a common format (JSON/CSV).

8. Cross-Border Data Transfer
We use international cloud service providers (e.g., Tencent Cloud). Your data may be transferred to servers outside your country of residence. We ensure such transfers comply with applicable laws and implement appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in business, legal requirements, or features. For material changes, we will provide prominent notice within the eLango App (e.g., pop-up or in-app message) and update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
